Military Collectibles

It is quite normal for people who grew up in times of relative peace to be intrigued by earlier
periods of war such as the 1st and 2nd World War.

This fascination has led many into the world of military collectibles that has stayed
with them throughout their lives. What people collect can be mind boggling at times from
the smallest piece like a bullet to armoured cars and even planes.
some of the most popular foe any collector is the following;

Military Books
There have been some great books been written by some great leaders over
centuries from the Russian leaders, American leaders and the European leaders.

When we read these books I suppose we try and delve into the physic of these individuals
and see what drove them to be admired leaders and also on the other
hand what drove some of the to be so inhumane to the fellowman.

One of the most read books of the twentieth century is Meine Kampf which is about t
he 2nd World War and the notorious German leader Adolf Hitler and what drove him to
be what we now know as one of the worst dictators of the period

Military Firearms
This military collectible is a favourite among collectors of all periods and from every country.
Take for instance the Russian period where firearms first appeared 1376 and 1382 when they
were used in a battle in Volga Bulgar city.

These earl guns were not as sophisticated as what we see modern day armies using,
these were simple devices where a piece of metal shaped into a ball was placed down
the barrel followed by a powder known as gun powder.

The powder was then ignited causing an explosion in the barrel and forcing
the metal ball to be expelled at great speed towards the intended target.

Military Helmets
Helmets can be purchased online or in lots of military towns you can find a military store that will have a selection from the two great wars of the last century. The Roman helmets from the medieval periods along with helmets from Germany are very popular among collectors of military collectibles.

Military Medals
Because of their size and easy maintenance they have always and always will be a very popular choice as a collectible item. Some of the very old medals and especially those that are linked with historic battles are very valuable because of their rarity. Medals are often traded online and if you are lucky enough you can come on some great treasure, but most often they are retained within families to create a treasured family heirloom.

Military Hats.
These can be hard hats or soft peaked hats but can be sourced online or in flea markets throughout the world.
They are especially nice if you can find them with military badges and medals attached and can be hung in
select areas which will be the opener to many an interesting conversation.
