Military Clothing

There’s a certain something about military uniforms that
makes almost everyone that wears one look great.  

But this may be more accidental than anything, because military clothing
really doesn’t have anything to do with fashion or style.

With one main exception, military clothing is all about comfort, utility and
safety, usually featuring drab colors and simple designs.

The exception to the rule is the “full dress” uniform worn by the world’s military
personnel on special occasions, usually parades and other ceremonial events.

Full dress uniforms are almost always striking in appearance, being both more
colorful and more elaborate in design than “everyday” military clothing.

Classic examples of military dress uniforms that stand out for their style include the “Dress Blue” uniform of the United States Marine Corps and the “Dress White” uniform of the United States Navy.

But for the most part, no matter which branch of service, military clothing is designed to be durable and comfortable, and to provide concealment during combat through camouflage.

The military clothing required to be worn by armed forces personnel is typically issued to them by the government, but that’s not to say that military men and women might not want additional or supplemental articles of military clothing.

For example, the U.S. Marine Corps is well known for the midnight blue tunics and sky blue trousers trimmed in red of its “Dress Blues,” but these uniforms are only issued to a small number of Marines.

Others who want to wear them off-duty, such as at a military wedding, must purchase them at their own cost.

Another example is the soldier who just wants a few extra olive-drab t-shirts or camouflage utilities to wear while working around the house.
